This week, the word to illustrate for Illustration Friday was "skinny." I created a tiny gouache painting of a piping plover, an endangered shore bird, that has a plump body and skinny little legs.
Read more about piping plovers and what you can do to protect them here.

AWESSOOOMMEEEEE!!! this is really cool
What a sweet illustration! Beautiful! I like the sared colors and textures of the egga and the plover. And the darling way she's looking at her eggs! Well done!
yay indeed for birdies! this is so sweet!
LOVE this :o)
Miss you.
Oh my goodness, what an adorable bird. And such a cute name to go along with it. Piping Plover. It's fun to say. That's reason alone to protect them.
Ann Marie, I love this. We were just looking for piping plovers a few weeks ago at Plum Island. I would love a print of this should you ever reproduce it!
Thanks everyone for your kind comments! Jen - I want to talk to you about finding piping plovers on Plum Island! I'd be happy to make a print for you.
Nice work! This little bird is full of sentiment!
^_^
I'd love to see more of these! I agree with Jenn, this would make a lovely print.
This is so awesome. The composition is lovely as well as your color palette. I'm sorry I missed this last week.
Thanks everyone!
