Illustration Friday - Toy

My mom told me about tough times growing up in Italy during World War II. During certain years, they were lucky to have enough to eat. As for toys, well children had to often create their own.

I thought one story was particularly funny and sweet. My mom and her sister did not own any dolls. They would take a kitchen towel and drape it over one of their hens. She became--a bride!

such a sweet story about the inventiveness of children. I wonder how accommodating the hen was to the game.

Super illustration.

I've missed a lot of great posts! It's nice to catch up with you. Your birdies made me smile. And what a great illustrated story about the hen. HA! I love the way children's minds work. When we were moving and all the toys were packed away, my youngest had a great time just playing with her shoes like they were airplanes. Have a great weekend!

I wonder what the chicken thought of such shenanigans. What a quirkily cool story and drawing!
