Illustration Friday - Island

This is my first post for my illustration blog and also my first submission to Illustration Friday. I only had time for a sketch, but will be painting it during the next few days. The subject is a girl sending a sea turtle back into the ocean. Here is an earlier sketch that I cropped down. Am still undecided about which I like better:

Adorable - the girl is very charming and I like the composition flow. I prefer the tighter cropping and think the sense of tropical island comes across even without the hut and trees (but they're lovely also!)

Such a wonderful image! I definitely like the tighter crop as well. It is like the viewer is peeking in on the little girl and the turtle. I can't wait to see it in color. Congratulations on your first post!

Brava! So evocative! I can imagine several literary scenarios to go with this!!!
