This week's prompt for
Illustrtion Friday is "focused." This is a mandala painting I did a few years ago for an illustration assignment. A mandala (Sanskrit for "round" or "circle") is used to assist concentration and meditation.
Mandalas can be created in many mediums--even dance! The process for creating them is often ritualistic as in the creation of sand mandalas unique to the Tibetan Buddhists. Once created these are deconstructed and the sand is dispersed in water to symbolize the impermanent nature of existence.
